Novak Djokovic defeats Kei Nishikori in four sets to win the quarter final at court one on Wednesday. It will be Djokovic's first Grand Slam semi-final since the 2016 US Open as he continues his bid to return to the top of the game.
When the Croatians faced off against hosts Russia in their quarter-final many Serbs who gathered to watch in cafes in central Belgrade were backing the Russians rather than their neighbours from the former Yugoslavia.
Roger Federer was knocked out of Wimbledon by Kevin Anderson after a thrilling five-set battle that ended in a 2-6 6-7 (5) 7-5 6-4 13-11 victory for the South African. "I hope I can get a chance to fight for a trophy", he said.
Anderson was the runner-up to Nadal at last year's U.S. Open, but he never made it beyond the fourth round at Wimbledon until this week.
"I like the level of tennis that I'm playing on right now", Djokovic said.
"I know how I threw the racket, but [Nishikori] threw a racket in the fourth set and the umpire said he didn't see it".

Sweden will stick to their strengths against England - Granqvist
With three goals to his name, the same as his teammate Kylian Mbappe , Griezmann stressed that his team could go all the way. Sweden has shined in Russian Federation , advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time since the 1994 FIFA World Cup .
The Serb looked in impressive form, particularly when he closed out the final set in ruthless fashion to set up a blockbuster semi-final with world number one Rafa Nadal.
Eight-time champion Federer has already won more Wimbledon singles titles than any other man, but was aiming to equal Martina Navratilova's all-time record.
"I just had to go back to the basics and just try to get comfortable with my game and try to gain as much confidence as possible through match play".
Asked if he is a genuine contender this year, Djokovic replied: "That's why I'm here".
It didn't show in Djokovic's play, though, as he embarked upon another swing of four games in succession, holding Nishikori to three points in his next two service sets as he soared into a 4-1 lead. Like Djokovic, Nishikori does things on his own terms - he walks between points, scuffing his feet, and on receiving balls ahead of serve, if the distribution was slightly off he would not take a step left nor right to collect it. I don't want to stop here. You could feel Djokovic's rage slowly building, bubbling nicely, but he managed to keep it in check to close out the match. However, he prevented further damage when he held from 0-40 at 2-2 in the third set, and the hold would prove significant as he responded well to break Nishikori twice in succession.
"I just kept on telling myself, 'I have to keep believing.' I kept saying that today was going to be my day", Anderson said, "because you really need that mindset taking the court against somebody like Roger".
