Parents in upstate NY have taken legal action to force their 30-year-old son to leave their home.
In the fifth and final letter Michael's parents offered to pay for the repairs for his broken down auto to get it off their property, and he still refused to leave. It seems to have struck a chord as an extreme example of a phenomenon demographers have been tracking for years: growing rates of young adults, particularly young men, living in their parents' homes even after graduation from high school and college.
He says he immediately filed an appeal as a "poor person" so that his court fees could be waived going forward. Then they wrote him a letter and offered him $1,100, all to no avail.
So now, a court ruling is forcing him out, and he's complaining about his parents.
However, the judge in the case instead ordered the parents' lawyer to draft an order outlining terms of the eviction on Tuesday.
Michael will head to the Onondaga County Court on May 22 to explain why he "should not be required to vacate the family residence".

When he was in his early 20s, Rotondo briefly lived on his own, but he moved back in with his parents after losing a job.
Acting as his own attorney, Michael said he was never expected to contribute to expenses or to help with chores at his parents' home, where he has lived for the past eight years.
Rotondo said, however, that he recently lost his visitation rights and that as a result, his parents "have been trying to coerce me away" and had stopped feeding him. "We will take whatever actions are necessary". "They stopped feeding me - they cut me off the family phone plan".
Supreme Court Justice Donald Greenwood also branded Rotondo's plea for more time "outrageous" and issued him with an eviction order. And I'm expecting that I will be able to.
To be fair, Baldwin asked why he just doesn't move out tomorrow if he doesn't like living with his mum and dad - which is a pretty stupid thing to say.
If you've ever tried renting somewhere, it takes a lot longer than 24 hours to find a place, do an inspection, speak to the letting agent, get approved, sign some documents, get enough money for a deposit, blah blah blah.
