The five-year-old son of an IN police officer who was killed while on duty has been given a special welcome back to school by his father's colleagues. They wanted Dakota to know they will always have his back.
The boy's father was killed during a shootout with a homicide suspect in early May, CBS reported.
Dakota Pitts is just five years old.
Dakota's dad, 45-year-old Rob Pitt, was killed last week after a three-hour standoff with Christopher Wolfe, 21, who was suspected of murder.
For his first day back to school, Dakota asked if one of his dad's friends could drive him in his dad's police vehicle.
When he arrived at his school in Sullivan he was greeted by 70 Terre Haute police officers and Vigo County sheriff's deputies. Then an officer presented the young LAD with his own SWAT shirt as he made his way to the door of Sullivan Elementary School.

Dakota returned to school Monday and didn't want to go alone.
