He says the bruising Republican primary, in which Braun and Congressmen Todd Rokita and Luke Messer each campaigned as unswerving backers of President Trump, suggests a misunderstanding of the job they're seeking.
This made the Indiana GOP senate primary one of the most expensive races in this 2018 cycle so far. Third District Rep. Jim Banks (R), though unopposed, officially earned the nomination to keep his congressional seat Tuesday night. "I don't think that the folks from the 3rd District, the most conservative, most Republican congressional district in the State of in are ready for that kind of politics", Shine said.
"When he's in IN he acts like one of us, but in Washington he votes against us, against President Trump and in lockstep with the Democrats".
Shortly after the race was called in Braun's favor, Messer and Rokita publicly conceded.
Mr. Trump also waded into the primary race in OH, endorsing Rep. James B. Renacci, who emerged victorious in GOP primary field that also featured businessman Mike Gibbons. "Who is going to fight to protect our good paying jobs, and additionally who will be an independent voice for IN?"
Indiana: Former state lawmaker and CEO Mike Braun pulled an upset victory over Reps.
IN congressmen Luke Messer and Todd Rokita will be without an elected office job at the end of the year.
