Day reacts after sinking the winning putt on the 18th green during the final round of the Wells Fargo Championship. He stretched out both arms in mock celebration after his 2-over 73. "When I'm putting well, I don't feel like I should miss a putt inside 10 feet".
The world number 14 started the third round just one shot behind Peter Malnati but as the American tumbled down the leaderboard with a four-over 75, Day climbed into pole position on 10 under par with an impressive 67. He rolled up his trousers, played the ball above his feet on the embankment and eventually made par. Woods finished with a birdie-less three-over 74 that has him outside the top 50 at two-over 286. Wagner had his only bogey on the first hole and followed with three birdies on his way to a 69.
"I'm just not that comfortable with anything right now", McIlroy told Golf Channel. "So I put a little more hit into my stroke, put a little more load, a little more hit and it worked out good, I hit some good putts. I'm confident about my abilities going into next week, but I got to just enjoy tonight, have fun, but really got to focus on next week after tonight".
At least he has the weekend.
