The party announced after Monday's working committee meeting that the issue of "management of the transition between the 5th and 6th administration of government and pending actions in Parliament" has been referred to a meeting of the party's national executive committee, NEC, to be held on Wednesday.
Zuma, meanwhile, is still fighting almost 800 counts of corruption over an arms deal from the late 1990s and his ties with the Gupta brothers, a family of wealthy Indian-born businessmen, are the subject of a judicial inquiry on grand-level corruption.
"We will be able to communicate further on President Zuma's position as President of the Republic once we have finalised all pertinent matters", Ramaphosa said. However, there was no public announcement Monday about the results of the meeting, days before a state of the nation address that Zuma is scheduled to deliver in parliament. Many members of the ruling African National Congress party have turned against him.
Mr Zuma, 75, in power since 2009, is fighting for his survival and faces the imminent risk of being ousted from office by his own party after multiple graft scandals.
Ramaphosa says this is a challenging time for our country but that he and Zuma are aware that people want and deserve closure.
It all started on Sunday night when news broke that Zuma had refused to resign and told national leaders who visited him at his Pretoria presidential guesthouse that their basis for asking him to do so were flaky.

The main opposition Democratic Alliance party has called for the event to be postponed.
"After almost 24 years of ANC rule, the government hasn't fundamentally changed the structure of the South African economy or business environment", Vandome said. Zuma and the Guptas deny any wrongdoing.
