The 54-year-old former doctor, who was almost attacked in court last week when a father lunged at him after hearing his daughters' impact statements, offered an apology as he faced the judge and said his victims' testimonies will be "forever present" in his thoughts. Nassar assaulted two girls between the ages of 13 and 15 and the third was younger than 13, according to his plea deal. They told the judge how he sexually assaulted them under the guise that he was performing medical treatments.
The fallout has already been widespread with the entire board of USA Gymnastics and the President of Michigan State already resigning.
"This was the first time I heard of Larry Nassar and his reputation", the former gymnast said in court Wednesday.
Dr. Nassar, in a final statement, said that he was sorry, and that the words of the young women and parents "impacted me to my innermost core".
"With that being said, I understand and acknowledge that it pales in comparison to the pain, trauma and emotions that you all are feeling", he continued.
The latest sentence stems from abuse he committed at the Twistars gymnastics training centre in MI, where victims said in court they were referred to Nassar for treatment and were molested. More than 150 women have since come forward with similar stories, including Olympic gold medalists Aly Raisman, Simone Biles, McKayla Maroney and Jordyn Wieber. Three very different individuals make that point clear. "... I do not believe there is a likelihood you could be reformed".
"In gymnastics, you do what you're told".
"It's not a fun place to dig", Nassar said to the camera.

As recently as a few years ago, Nassar was widely respected in the gymnastics community and beyond for his treatment of injured athletes. "And now the result will be spending the rest of your life in a small prison cell".
"The defendant not only robbed these children of their innocence but he robbed many of them of their good health".
Aquilina, the judge, listened to the stories of so many individuals that were abused by Nassar.
Randall Margraves, A father of three of Nassar's victims, rushed at him in the courtroom last week and had to be restrained. He was later released without being charged.
Larry Nassar's final day in court concluded with decades more prison time. He was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison in that case.
Several women said they reported his abuse to coaches, trainers and adults at USA Gymnastics and Michigan State. Perhaps the most critical: Believe children when they say they've been abused.
The next step in the process of justice for the victims will be the investigations of the various institutions involved, to see if they were complicit in the years of abuse.
