Since the beginning of this flu season, 45 Oklahomans have died due to the flu, according to the Oklahoma Health Department. Here in Tulsa County, 338 people have been hospitalized since flu season began in September, and the county is now reporting ten deaths.
According to the health department's latest report on Thursday, 45 people, including three in Oklahoma County, have died due to the flu since September 1, 2017.
So far all flu-related deaths in North and Northeast Texas have been adults.
Officials said 35 of those who died were over 65 years old, and 10 were between 50 and 64 years old.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone age six months and older get a flu vaccine each year.
