The bug was discovered by Abraham Masri and he said it can also slow down Safari browser that is used to surf the internet on Mac computers. After that, the Messages app won't load any messages and will continue to crash.
Masri said he published the bug to alert Apple: "My intention is not to do bad things".
'Please don't be tempted to try the text bomb attack out on anyone else - you're not being amusing, you're just being a jerk'.
The bug manifests when a text is received (or sent) that contains what appears to be a GitHub link. Twitter user @D3mRid3rOS replied to Masri's text with a Safari link created to fix the problem, but we're not convinced it won't end up harming your device.

The folks over at 9To5Mac tested the link out to see if it really did what Masri claimed and have since confirmed it to be the case. According to the experts at Yalu Jailbreak, the bug affects iMessage apps on macOS High Sierra, iOS 10 to 10.3.3, and iOS 11 to 11.2.1. The link has now been taken down by the site.
The software Apple mentioned will more than likely be iOS 11.2.5.
The code has now been removed from GitHub, disabling the "attack". Going back into the thread in Messages that contained the link would cause the app to continually crash, which forced both parties to delete the thread.
