The county had a jobless rate of 6.8 percent last month, according to statistics released by the state Department of Labor Tuesday, 2.3 percentage points higher than the statewide rate of 4.5 percent and 2.9 percentage points higher than the nationwide rate of 3.9 percent.
West Virginia's not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 5.0 percent in November 2017. With the exception of one month when it was equal (October 2014), Indiana's unemployment rate now has been below the USA rate for more than four years.
The Cooke County unemployment rate remained below state and national average last month while the local economy added a handful of jobs.
The unemployment rate increased in all 55 counties last month.
The estimates of job gains and losses are based on a survey of businesses.
The number of those on the job actually increased by 201 from October, but that was offset by the increase in the number unemployed, which rose from 1,223 to 1,277.

Texas Jobless Rate for November at Record Low of 3.8 Percent
During the past year, the largest absolute gains nationwide were in Texas, where the number of jobs climbed 330,600. The department said Friday the unemployment rate rose from 3.6 percent in October to 3.7 percent in November.
The Trade, transportation, and Utilities sector posted the largest gain for the month, with an estimated 800 positions added in November.
Statewide, the not seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 5 percent, an increase of eight-tenths of 1 percent from 4.2 percent. Of those, 3.8 percent were in manufacturing of nondurable goods. Other industries showed little estimated job change in November. "Fast rates of job growth are largely behind us as Deschutes County's job expansion matures".
The rates in five of Dubois County's neighboring counties - Crawford, Orange, Pike, Spencer and Warrick - rose in November while the rates in Daviess, Martin and Perry counties remained unchanged.
The occupations with the most help wanted ads in Stanislaus County for November were: Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers - 543; Registered Nurses - 432; Retail Salespersons - 179; Light Truck or Delivery Services Drivers - 152; Laborers and Freight, Stock, and Material Movers, Hand - 138; First-Line Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers - 129; Maintenance and Repair Workers - 113; First-Line Supervisors of Food Preparation and Serving Workers - 90; Teacher Assistants - 86; and Customer Service Representatives - 85. Job losses continue to be concentrated in government (-120 jobs).
Dubois County's labor force consisted of 22,632 people in November - 22,082 of whom were employed.
