After Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in May, McCabe stepped in as his interim replacement, reportedly drawing renewed ire from the President, who still considered him a Clinton loyalist. For obvious reasons, Trump has been the most invested in pushing the narrative that the probe into whether he colluded with Russian Federation to sway the election is a "witch hunt" and a "scam".
