Fire officials say that the woman was feeling ill and crews wanted her to be evaluated at the hospital. Fire crews immediately upgraded the fire to two alarms when they arrived on the scene because they ran into a major problem. The fire heavily damaged the first floor of the house before it was extinguished.
Firefighters were able to take control of the fire and put it out before it could cause major damage to the rest of the home.
The fire departments in the area, which hold a toy drive every year are letting the family get gifts from the drive.
No one was injured in the blaze, and although some residents were out of town, at least two were displaced from their home, the department said.
