As a raging conflagration now called the Skirball Fire engulfed the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles on Wednesday morning, December 6, the nearby Getty Center and its fabled J. Paul Getty Museum appeared to be safe for the time being.
The L.A. Times reports: "The fire was estimated to cover some 50 acres by 6:20 a.m., but Los Angeles fire officials said it was being fueled by 25 miles per hour winds and would likely grow even more".
Several homes in Los Angeles' Bel-Air neighborhood were burning, and the 405 was closed in both directions. Jerry Brown issued a state of emergency as 27,000 people were evacuated from their homes, the Los Angeles Times reported.
As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, an estimated 11,377 acres had burned and 2,500 structures were threatened, according to the U.S. Forest Service, which was fighting the fire in a unified command with the Los Angeles city and county fire departments.

Stranger Things 3: Netflix makes it official, roll on Halloween 2018
The weird and popular streaming drama series " Stranger Things " is getting a third season , Netflix announced Friday . It is popular not only with the horror audience but with the mainstream, casual viewers as well.
Thousands of residents were under evacuation order. "We don't want to hamper our personnel and not send them". Some 100,000 people have evacuated already, and Los Angeles Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas said crews would likely be battling the blaze for days.
"This has only just begun", he said Tuesday.
Mandatory Evacuations are in effect.
The newspaper said evacuations have been ordered in the Sullivan and Mandeville canyon area.

Needless to say, the Skirball Center will remain closed as well.
