President Trump is planning to nominate Newt Gingrich's wife, Callista Gingrich, as the USA ambassador to the Vatican, The New York Times reported Sunday. The administration is waiting for approval from the Office of Government Ethics before making a formal announcement.
Axios reported on Monday, citing an unnamed source, that the President had misgivings about sending Gingrich overseas because he enjoys watching her husband, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, defending him on air.
