Thorp said authorities believe a fourth body is that of the shooter, but the shooter's motive and identification are not yet known.
WBNS TV reports that the gunman first shot the officer, then went into the nursing home and shot two more people before turning the gun on himself.

Responding police found the gunman dead in the nursing home in Kirkersville, a village of about 500 people about 20 miles east of downtown Columbus, authorities said. "It's just a tragic event", he said. According to WOSU's Esther Honig, that officer was Kirkersville police chief Robert E. Chamberlain II.
