Universal Pictures' eighth installment in the "Fast and the Furious" franchise earned $38.7 million in North American theaters over the weekend, down 61 percent from its debut, according to studio estimates Sunday.
Both Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw were introduced as enemies to Dominic Toretto, a street racing patriarch whose tight-knit group have taken over locales like Rio de Janeiro, London, and Abu Dhabi. My guess is that it will crack the top five based on the strength of its two stars, but I don't see it doing well enough to topple THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS.
