TGR Design, the golf course design firm owned by Tiger Woods, and Big Cedar are paying tribute to Springfield native Payne Stewart, victor of three major titles on the PGA tour, by naming the new course Payne's Valley.

Woods' bond with Stewart - whose wife Tracey was in attendance for the announcement - was strong and he's not taking the responsibility of being involved in this legacy course lightly. It is scheduled to open in 2019, The Springfield News-Leader reported.
