Though the NES Classic has been discontinued, Nintendo hasn't given up on plug-and-play consoles. Last summer, it was able to correctly report the Nintendo Switch concept, calling it a "portable, handheld console with detachable controllers".
A new rumbling is happening on the web and it's about another retro console making a comeback.
The official name of the device will probably be Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System and it will be released sometime later this year, in time for Christmas. Nintendo said that was because some users bought both a limited edition of the game and another version. SNES still has one of the best game libraries of all time, with classics from Nintendo, Square, Capcom, Konami, Rare, and pretty much everybody who wasn't owned by Sega at the time. With a few simple mods, gamers had the NES Classic Edition running titles from the SNES, Genesis, and even N64.
Nintendo hasn't commented on the rumours themselves, but many fans will live in hope of another wave of console nostalgia later this year. We only wish more people could have gotten one. If it's true, the next Mini Nintendo console is the SNES Mini. This report follows on from news yesterday, which discovered that the Japanese company would be discontinuing manufacture of their highly popular NES Mini.

If you weren't able to purchase the NES Classic Edition prior to its discontinuation, we feel your pain.
Sources within Nintendo have confirmed to EuroGamer that the company is set to release the SNES Classic Edition in late 2017.
There's no information on what games the mini console could include. That means you could well be reliving the likes of Super Metroid and Super Mario World before the year is out.
