But perhaps the most shocking bit of news our local reps made was the revelation that Nunes had never heard of two of Trump's longtime advisors, both of whom have been caught up in the Russian-meddling brouhaha: Carter Page and Roger Stone.
"The president needs to know these intelligence reports are out there and I have a duty to tell him that", Nunes said.
But Nunes also added that in the dozens of documents he read, "None of the surveillance was related to Russia, or the investigation of Russian activities, or of the Trump team". Mr Nunes served as a member of the Trump transition team in the run-up to the inauguration.
"I believe it was all done legally", he said. They will also probably question who "unmasked" the names of Trump advisers, when the default is to avoid revealing the identities of United States citizens communicating with monitored foreign nationals.
Nunes comments come off the heels of FBI Director James Comey's testimony before Congress on Monday, during which he stated there was "no information" to confirm Donald Trump's claims that he had been wiretapped by former President Barack Obama.

Emmanuel Macron seen as winning first televised presidential debate
Le Pen's main challenge was to appear credible on economic policy, but she stressed security and immigration issues. But the scandal, which has dominated the campaign for weeks, occupied relatively little time in the debate.
Mr Nunes' decision to brief Mr Trump before informing his colleagues on the intelligence committee - which is investigating Russian interference in the USA election - was strongly criticised by Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the committee, who said the episode underscored the need for an independent investigation. Sean Spicer, White House spokesman, repeated a Fox News analyst's claim that GCHQ, the British electronic surveillance agency, had monitored Mr Trump on behalf of Mr Obama.
"Additional names of Trump transition team members were unmasked", Nunes said. If the communications were gathered by authorization of a FISA warrant, the material would have been classified. Comey confirmed that there was an investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian meddling in the presidential election.
John Schindler pointed out that when one talks to legitimate foreign intelligence targets who are already being monitored, they will be swept up in that collection. "If you have evidence, especially as it relate to people in the White House ... that would be something that we really should know about and know about quickly, because there is a big gray cloud that you have now put over people who have very important work to do to lead this country".
Nunes claims to have gotten the information personally from an unspecified source, and had not yet met with Federal Bureau of Investigation director Comey to review the raw intelligence intercepts he was provided. A number of Trump associates outside of Flynn had their identities revealed, he said. They are believed to include Michael Flynn, who was sacked as White House national security adviser after misleading Vice President Mike Pence and other top officials about his contacts with Russia's ambassador to the United States.
