Google, at its Cloud Next conference in San Francisco, unveiled a new technology where it will use machine learning to identify objects in videos.
The new API was built to help understand the overall content in videos, and extract actionable insight from that data. For example, Google offers APIs such as its Cloud Vision API, Cloud Speech API, Cloud Jobs API, Cloud Translation API, Cloud Video Intelligence API, and the Cloud Natural Language API.
Rackspace, one of the world's largest cloud services providers, has announced that it will partner with Google to create a new managed services offering for the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). With Google's strong push towards machine learning, this addition gives them the power to improve their cloud and artificial intelligence efforts further than ever before. The same goes for Google's Cloud Datalab.
Dotmodus, a boutique data sciences company, has achieved the Google Cloud Partner Specialisation in Data Analytics.
Google's new offering is somewhat similar to the Convertible Reserved Instance offering from Amazon Web Services, which lets users reserve a particular compute instance in that cloud with the ability to change the instance type they want in the future.

Machine learning and AI will be a key tool in Google's box as it looks to grow its cloud capabilities and differentiate itself from its larger competitors. Eric Schmidt, Google's chairman, had a blunt message for the enterprise: "Leave the infrastructure to us".
"With a growing number of enterprises moving their analytics workloads to the cloud, we're extremely excited for the opportunity to address the data wrangling challenges of these innovative organizations", said Adam Wilson, CEO, Trifacta. Verizon, HSBC, eBay, Home Depot, Disney, Colgate-Palmolive, and SAP also spoke about their partnerships with Google - alternately in glittering generalities and arcane enterprise software acronyms. These technologies will make a difference in self-driving cars and healthcare, sure, but also Snapchat's filters and Google Photos' search capabilities.
