Philadelphia police are responding to a Sunday morning report of vandalism at an old Jewish cemetery in the city's Wissinoming section.
A similar incident took place at a Jewish cemetery in St. Louis last week, where over 100 headstones were broken and knocked over at the Chesed Shel Emeth Society Cemetery. The Philadelphia police say this was an act of vandalism at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery on the corner of Frankford and Cheltenham avenues.
It was not immediately clear if the damage was from a hate attack. WPVI-TV reported that a man visiting his father's grave came upon the damage and alerted police.
'I'm hoping it was maybe just some drunk kids.
Mallin told the news station he believes the scope of the destruction suggests this may have been a targeted attack rather than an isolated incident.

Although the Grinstead investigation was more than 11 years old, the case was still considered active. According to investigators, Duke attended Irwin County High School, where Grinstead taught.
"It's just very disheartening that such a thing would take place", Aaron Mallin said of discovering the damage. "Full confidence U.S. authorities catch and punish culprits".
Tom Wolf (D) called the vandalism a "cowardly, disturbing act" Sunday afternoon, stressing the importance of finding the perpetrators.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia said it will be opening a mailbox at jewishphilly.org later to begin raising money for repairs.
"We are sickened, sickened, sickened", the center said in a statement.
