The Dallas Mavericks have waived Deron Williams and now the 32-year-old guard is looking forward to his next National Basketball Association chapter.
In waiving Williams, the Mavericks are handing the reins to Yogi Ferrell at point guard.
For the current season, Williams has averaged 13.1 points and 6.9 assists, a far cry from what he used to put up as an All-Star.
Days before the National Basketball Association trade deadline arrived, the Utah Jazz has been rumored to have been making efforts to re-acquire Williams.

Although he may not be used to coming off the bench (has started 103 of 105 games played since the start of the 2015 season), the veteran will likely do whatever is needed for both he and the Cavs to achieve their ultimate goal in June. It's likely he will be pursued by several teams who need to shore up their backcourt to make playoff runs down the stretch. Barea sits the next three games as he recovers from his calf injury.
While Griffin declined to comment about Williams, Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue admitted that he "always liked D-Will" and adding that an All-star player always means additional great talent for the team.
The Mavs traded for Philadelphia's Nerlens Noel ahead of the National Basketball Association trade deadline on Thursday. As of Saturday evening Bogut had not been bought out and waived by the 76ers. Noel is one of the top young defensive big men in the league and will help anchor things defensively in Dallas. Deron Williams is ready to be that guy.
Cleveland instead has been playing small ball, but if the Cavaliers manage to sign Bogut in the buy-out market, then this will allow players like Kevin Love and Channing Frye to play their natural power forward positions at all times, instead of occasionally having to slide into that center position.
