The launch took place at 9.28 AM from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
The rocket first put into orbit the 714-kg Cartosat-2 Series satellite, followed by the co-passengers - Isro's INS-1A and INS-1B, and 96 nano satellites belonging to two United States companies, and one each from Israel, Kazakhstan, The Netherlands, Switzerland and the UAE. On board were a total of 103 nanosatellites consisting of 96 from the U.S., two from India, and one each from the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates. This included 650 Kg Cartosat-2D and two nano-satellites namely INS-1A and INS-1B weighing 15 Kg each.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated ISRO on the successful launch of 104 satellites at just one go. Antrix is ISRO's commercial division and provides entities the option to get their satellites in space onboard the ISRO rockets.
ISRO has used the heaviest version of PSLV in the mission. Apart from this huge satellite, it also lifted up two Nanosatellites made by ISRO and 101 foreign satellites.
ISRO's low prices attracted global customers to launch 75 satellites a year ago from Sriharikota in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
ISRO launched a 1,574-pound Cartosat-2 series satellite for earth observation purposes.

The phrase "world record" has also been trending on Twitter India for much of Wednesday morning. The achievement is significant as it had last launched 23 satellites in one go in June 2015. That's nearly 70 more satellites than Russia's previous record in 2014.
